New Minas Recreation March Break Day Camp 2024
We are looking forward to another fun and exciting March Break Camp! We have made some changes to March Break Camp in the hopes of providing a better experience. Please review the information below, our FAQ, March Break Camp Manual. Please check back before the registration date to see if any information has changed.
This year our camp hours are going to run 7:30AM-5:00PM. Pick up and drop off will happen at the gymnasium doors. If you are dropping off your child after 8:30AM and/or picking up before 4:00PM, please alert a leader. In those instances, drop off/pick up will happen at the Recreation Office (Room 125 in the same hallway where camp group rooms are located). The best way to contact for early pick up is via email to email@example.com, or by alerting a staff member at drop off.
Camp will not run if there is an extreme weather event. We will do our best to notify you as soon as possible.
The cost for March Break Camp is $115/week. We are not offering part time enrollment for March Break.
Payment is required by March 4th, 2024. If you are unable to pay 7 days before, you can reach out for a payment arrangement.
New this year, we will have the option to pay online. You will be required to enter a credit card number, or visa/mastercard debit at the time of registration and you will have the option to pay in full at that time or have a payment auto withdrawn on March 4th. If you do not have a credit card, or a visa/mastercard debit. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org before registration day.
If you are applying for Any Child Can Participate, those forms need to be in BEFORE March 4th in order to not be charged the full payment.
It is important that you confirm your email address and make sure there are no mistakes. If your payment is not received or an arrangement is not made by the Monday before camp, your child will be removed from registration and the spot will be given to the next person on the waiting list. This will be strictly enforced.
Over the years, the amount of no-show registrations has increased. This is unfair to not only our staff and the amount of effort they put in to planning fun activities for a certain number of children, but extremely unfair to children on the waitlist.
Interest Based Sessions:
This year we are incorporating interest-based sessions into the afternoons. Your child will pick two different activities they are curious to explore. The camps will be split into certain age groups for these sessions. Sessions can include imaginary play, sports, cooking, outdoor play, and quieter, less stimulating activities such as building Lego, arts and crafts, nature walks, etc. We hope that this creates an environment where the children can explore different interests and be better engaged in their chosen activities. Your child will be asked to pick their top 3 choices on Monday morning and will be sorted into groups that day. As parents, you will be able to see what skills will be offered during your child’s week at camp beforehand, we ask that you get them thinking about what they may like to choose to make the whole process run smoothly.
Recreation Program vs Daycare:
March Break Camp in New Minas is Recreation based programming. While we take great pride in offering a fun, safe, supervised environment for your child to spend their march break, it is not the right fit for all children. Participation is key in running a successful program. If you child is unwilling to participate on a consistent basis and interrupting the flow of our program, it may not be the appropriate place for your child. If we feel like this is not a good fit, we will give you as much notice as possible to make other arrangements.
If your child is a threat to themselves, other campers, or staff, you will be asked to pick them up immediately and they will not be permitted back to camp.
Registration will begin on January 24 at 9AM. The quickest and easiest way to register is by following the online registration link that is at the top of this page.
We offer programing for ages 4-12. Your child must be attending pre-primary if they are 4 years old.
No. Parents/Guardians are expected to provide enough lunch/snacks for the full day.
