The New Minas Fire Department, which is responsible for fire protection of the Village of New Minas and surrounding areas, is currently accepting applications.
In addition to fire protection, the department also has several specialty rescue and emergency response teams.
These include a high angle rope learn, water rescue/dive team, hazardous material response team and vehicle extrication team and consist of members who have an interest or speciality in these areas. Opportunity also exists for members interested in the Radio Communications/Computer operator area of the fire department.

The official opening of the new RCMP Kings District Office/New Minas Detachment was June 6, 2019. The new building is located at 8833 Commercial St., replacing the previous 35-year-old detachment at 18 Jones Rd.

The New Minas Commission has given first reading to proposed amendments to the Sewer By-Law, clarifying that property owners are responsible for maintenance and replacement of the entire service lateral to the point of connection to the main line. Second reading, to finalize the changes, will take place at the next Commission meeting on October 15. The proposed amendments can be viewed by clicking the below link.
