During the week of October 16, the Village of New Minas will be conducting smoke testing of our sanitary collection system. The intention of this study is to identify sewer infrastructure leaks and cross-connections. The contractor (BioMaxx) will systematically go up and down the streets in the community pumping a special harmless, non-damaging smoke throughout the sewer system, finding and marking note of every cross connection and abnormality along the way. Smoke should not enter any houses unless there is a cross-connection. If this does occur, the smoke should dissipate within 30 seconds once a window or door is opened.
