New Minas Recreation Summer Day Camp 2024
REGISTRATION MAY 10, 9AM
We are looking forward to another fun and exciting Summer Day Camp! We have made some changes to Summer Day Camp in the hopes of providing a better experience. Please review the information below, our FAQ, Summer Day Camp Manual. Please check back before the registration date to see if any information has changed.
Hours:
This year our camp hours are going to run 7:30AM-5:00PM. Pick up and drop off will happen at the gymnasium doors. If you are dropping off your child after 8:30AM and/or picking up before 4:00PM, please alert a leader. In those instances, drop off/pick up will happen at the Recreation Office (Room 125 in the same hallway where camp group rooms are located). The best way to contact for early pick up is via email to ericad@newminas.com, or by alerting a staff member at drop off.
Cost/Payment:
The cost for Summer Day Camp is $120/week, or if part time spaces are available $30/day.
Part time enrollment will only be considered if the week in question is not full and there is no one on the waitlist.
Payment is required by the below due dates, if you are unable to adhere to this schedule please reach out to Erica BEFORE the due date to discuss payment arrangements.
Week 1: June 21st
Week 2: June 28th
Week 3: July 5th
Week 4: July 12th
Week 5: July 19
Week 6: July 26
Week 7: August 2
Week 8: August 9
New this year, we will have the option to pay online. You will be required to enter a credit card number, or visa/mastercard debit at the time of registration and you will have the option to pay in full at that time or have a payment auto withdrawn on the payment due date. If you do not have a credit card, or a visa/mastercard debit. Please email ericad@newminas.com before registration day.
If payment is not made by the due date, and no payment arrangements have been made, your child will be removed from the program with no further warning and the spot will be given to someone else. This will be strictly enforced.
If you are applying for Any Child Can Participate, those forms need to be in BEFORE payment due dates in order to not be charged the full payment.
Over the years, the amount of no-show registrations has increased. This is unfair to not only our staff and the amount of effort they put in to planning fun activities for a certain number of children, but extremely unfair to children on the waitlist.
Interest Based Sessions:
Much like last year, we are incorporating interest-based sessions into the afternoons. Your child will pick two different activities they are curious to explore. The camps will be split into certain age groups for these sessions. Sessions can include imaginary play, sports, cooking, outdoor play, and quieter, less stimulating activities such as building Lego, arts and crafts, nature walks, etc. We hope that this creates an environment where the children can explore different interests and be better engaged in their chosen activities. Your child will be asked to pick their top 3 choices on Monday morning and will be sorted into groups that day. As parents, you will be able to see what skills will be offered during your child’s week at camp beforehand, we ask that you get them thinking about what they may like to choose to make the whole process run smoothly.
Recreation Program vs Daycare:
March Break Camp in New Minas is Recreation based programming. While we take great pride in offering a fun, safe, supervised environment for your child to spend their march break, it is not the right fit for all children. Participation is key in running a successful program. If you child is unwilling to participate on a consistent basis and interrupting the flow of our program, it may not be the appropriate place for your child. If we feel like this is not a good fit, we will give you as much notice as possible to make other arrangements.
If your child is a threat to themselves, other campers, or staff, you will be asked to pick them up immediately and they will not be permitted back to camp.
Please reach us at ericad@newminas.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Registration will begin on May 6th at 9AM. The quickest and easiest way to register is by following the online registration link that is at the top of this page. Remember to have your credit card ready. You may be placed into a waiting room to register, do not refresh the page, your place in line will be kept and you will be redirected when it is your turn.
We offer programing for ages 4-12. Your child must have completed pre-primary if they are 4 years old. LIT 1 and 2 is offered for 13-15 year old's.
